This June, the House of Commons unanimously passed legislation to make September 30th a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation to commemorate the history and ongoing trauma caused by residential schools and to honour the survivors, families, and communities who continue to grieve for those who were lost in accordance with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action #80.
The Manitoba government is formally recognizing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a day of observance to encourage reflection and meaningful discussions about the impacts of residential schools. All non-essential provincial government services and offices will also be closed for the day and flags on all provincial government buildings will be lowered to half-mast.
Pollock & Company wishes to provide time and educational opportunities for our office to commemorate the legacy of residential schools and honour survivors and their families. Our observation of this day is one of the initiatives we are undertaking in support of Indigenous communities.
If you anticipate requiring our services on September 30th, please reach out to us prior to that date and we will be pleased to assist you.
